Men’s Fitness verdict

If your floor exercises tend to get hot and sweaty you’ll appreciate the grip the ribbed Myprotein mat offers. It’ll need plenty of cleaning though.
Pros
  • Great price
  • Grooved for grip
Cons
  • Feels a bit cheap
  • Marks easily
Materials:High-density foam
Dimensions:72 x 24in (183 x 61cm)
Features:6mm cushion, textured surface, strap included
Colours:Blue, grey

Measuring 6mm thick, the Myprotein Yoga Recovery Mat is made from high-density foam, making it feel soft and spongy beneath your hands and feet. Despite its soft and cushioned feel, it’s just the right thickness to provide a strong, stable base for your feet. So it’s a good option for both bodyweight HIIT home workouts and technical balancing poses.

Myprotein Yoga Recovery Mat design

The wavy grooves that run across it provide a grippy platform for energetic workouts – although they’re dirt magnets, so you’ll need to clean it regularly.

With its fairly standard 183 x 61cm dimension and shallow 6mm cushion, it’s no surprise the Myprotein Yoga Recovery Mat (buy now) rolls up nice and compact. The included strap makes this lightweight mat a breeze to take from home to office to gym and back again. There’s even a space for you to write your name on it too.

Despite its foam-like feel, our mat shows no sign of tearing after substantial use and abuse. It does feel a little cheap, though, so we wouldn’t expect it to last as long as the Lululemon (Big) Mat or the Pliability Mat, for example.

The Myprotein Yoga Recovery Mat is easy to clean and wipe down, but easy to mark too – which tends to stand out more on the turquoise option than the grey. It’s probably not suitable for regular weight training, but it’s a portable and inexpensive option for most other gym and studio sessions.
